Zoology Department at a Glance:
Zoology Department was established in 1998. At present three faculty members are working in the Department of Zoology Dr. S.A. Gurule (CEO & HOD & Assistant Professor), Ms. J.A. Rajput (Assistant Professor) and Mr. A.R. Handore (Assistant Professor). This department in the college is having well equipped laboratories with sophisticated instruments like Stereoscopic microscope, research microscope, Electric Oven, Remi Centrifuge machine, Insect display cabinet, Weighing Balance and Museum of Zoological specimens. In the department 53 students at UG (F.Y.B.Sc. & S.Y.B.Sc.) students educating. Faculty of the department is competent, and highly qualified completed their Ph.D. Head of the department Dr. S.A. Gurule is recognized as Ph.D. Research Guide in the subject of Zoology and Environmental Science by Savitribai Phule Pune University and four (4) students are enrolled for Ph.D. under his guidance. Presently 2 faculty Ms. J.A. Rajput and Mr. A.R. Handore pursuing their Ph.D. from Zoology Research Center affiliating to SPPU, Pune.
The department is having research collaboration and Functional MoU’s with 3 reputed organization viz. Paul Hebert Centre for DNA Barcoding and Biodiversity Studies, BAMU, Aranyani Bio-conservation Society, Nashik and AREAS Foundation, Niphad, Nashik. All the faculty members of the department of Zoology are actively involved in Research activities and their thrust area of Research are Biodiversity, Taxonomy, Conservation Biology, DNA barcoding, Histopathology etc. Till date more than 15 Research papers were published by faculty members in reputed International Journals. The faculty members authored total 16 Text books of Zoology and 2 Reference Books. Faculties of the department are regularly presenting their research work in various national and international conferences. The facility of Internet surfing/ e-library and literature about Zoology is provided in the department.
